The Department of Physiology is dedicated to providing a comprehensive understanding of normal functions of organ systems in the human body. Our goal is to equip students with the knowledge of the physiological basis of health and disease. Led by a team of highly qualified and motivated faculty members, the department adheres to the CBME curriculum recommended by MCI/NMC. We place special emphasis on developing essential skills, attitudes, values, and responsiveness in students, preparing them to function effectively as primary healthcare providers for the community on a global scale.
Creating a conducive learning environment is our priority, and we have state-of-the-art infrastructure facilities that include research labs, demonstration rooms, and specialized laboratories for Haematology, Human Physiology, Clinical Physiology, and Research. Our ICT-enabled lecture galleries are designed to enhance the learning experience for students. Both the department library and the Central library offer an extensive collection of reference books on Physiology and related subjects.
Our Research Lab is well-equipped with advanced tools such as a Digital Polyrite machine, Treadmill, and equipment for conducting Pulmonary Function tests, EMG, and Cardiac Autonomic Function tests. We actively engage in inter-departmental and inter-institutional collaborative projects at the national level, with a focus on securing funding for research initiatives. Encouraging student participation in academic and research projects, including those supported by organizations like ICMR, is a key aspect of our approach.
In addition to academic pursuits, we prioritize the overall well-being of our students. Our department hosts stress-relieving sessions like yoga and meditation. The CAL (Computer Assisted Learning) lab and Skill Lab are established to enhance teaching-learning methods, providing students with hands-on training in Experimental & Clinical Physiology. Overall, our department is committed to fostering a holistic educational experience for aspiring physicians. In addition, the department has got approval for the starting of new PG course (5 seats) in 2023.
